The Tomb of Lysias the Grammarian The Canon
Just there, on the right as you go in,
in the Beirut library we buried him:
the scholar Lysias, a grammarian.
The location suits him beautifully.
We put him near the things that he
remembers maybe even there—notes, texts,
commentaries, variants, the multivolume works
of scholarship on Greek idiom.  Also, like this,
his tomb will be seen and honored by us
as we pass by on our way to the books.
